  • Chatbot Response possible first iteration

    Stakeholders spoke about wanting a horizontal scrolling option for visualization responses from the chatbot with mapping location selection possibilities. This design prompted a lot of discussion amongst the entire team and decided to go with multiple screens instead.

    After presenting to the stakeholders it was decided that this option with the image background seemed to busy and felt it could restrict accessibility.

UI/UX Design for AI-Driven Sustainability Platform

Project Overview

As a UI/UX Designer for Colorado Sustainability Hub, I'm helping create an innovative platform that connects communities, policymakers, and researchers across Colorado. The Hub's mission is to break down information silos and provide AI-driven insights that support informed decision-making for sustainable development.

This NSF-funded initiative aims to build a natural language query system that makes complex sustainability data accessible to everyone. The platform integrates environmental, economic, and social sustainability metrics to foster collaboration and holistic approaches to Colorado's development challenges.

My Role

I lead the design of the platform's chatbot feature, creating intuitive user flows and interfaces that make AI technology approachable for diverse users. Using Figma, I've developed:

  • User flow diagrams for the chatbot's conversational pathways

  • Interface designs that maintain accessibility while presenting complex data

  • Interactive prototypes for stakeholder feedback and user testing

This is an active, evolving project with multiple development phases planned. Currently, I'm iterating on designs based on stakeholder feedback, with implementation set to begin in the coming months.

My work focuses on translating sophisticated AI capabilities into a human-centered experience that empowers users regardless of their technical background. The designs prioritize clarity and accessibility, ensuring that valuable sustainability insights reach the widest possible audience across Colorado's urban and rural communities.

This project showcases my ability to design interfaces for complex systems while maintaining a focus on user needs and inclusive design principles.
